Planning and Facilitating Engaging Lectures and Discussions
The lecture gets a bad rap as a passive form of instruction whether teaching in the online or face-to-face environment. Yet, when delivered effectively, it can be a pedogeological tool to provide an overview of material, model critical thinking and explain challenging concepts. Lectures that allow students to interact with the material and the lecturer are most engaging. From creating micro-lectures, to student-activity breaks, the lecture can engage students and promote active learning. This interactive online session will help K-12 teachers to develop lectures to support learning objectives, develop well-organized and effectively paced lectures, keep students engaged, and facilitate student involvement.
