Culturally Responsive Pedagogy
Culturally Responsive Pedagogy prepare to better meet the academic needs of your students as this workshop examines teaching and learning strategies, concepts, and theories embedded in student-centered learning appropriate for diverse student populations in college classrooms. Emphasis is placed on instructional rigor and relevance as it relates to culturally responsive pedagogy within the confines of diversity variables such as ability differences, age, gender, race and ethnicity. Strategies will be discussed for eliminating micro-aggressions and other risk factors that present barriers to teaching and learning. Participants learn how to actively engage all students in their classes and increase student achievement by identifying, nurturing, and utilizing the strengths and inherent gifts students bring to the college setting. (1.5 – 3.0 hours)
